school Using alerts — a plain-English guide
The new one-toggle flow
- Type a Stop Loss price (sell if price drops here — limits your loss).
- Type a Target price (sell if price rises here — locks in profit).
- Click the toggle in the Configure alerts column. That's it — the toggle turns green, and the label shows "On · 2" (2 alerts created: one below, one above).
- Toggle again to turn them off. Cancellation happens instantly — no confirmation dialogs, no glitchy Cancel buttons.
Stop Loss (SL): A "below" alert. The moment the live price crosses down through your SL, the backend cron sends you an email. You then decide whether to actually sell.
Target: An "above" alert. Emails you when price crosses up through your target. Use this to lock profits without staring at the screen.
Email delivery: The Oracle VM cron polls live ticks every ~30–60 s and checks every ACTIVE alert. When one hits, the backend mails your account email (the address you signed in with) and marks the alert TRIGGERED.
Triggered history: Every fire is logged with the hit price and timestamp. Useful for auditing whether the alert fired at the right level.
Change SL or Target: Toggle off first (cancels current alerts), edit the numbers, toggle on again. Simpler than trying to update in place.
Cross-device sync: Alerts are stored in Supabase (your
user_id). Sign in on your phone and they follow you.Sensible defaults
- SL: 3–5% below your average buy price. Never wider than 8%.
- Target: 2× your risk (i.e., if SL is 4% below entry, target is 8% above entry). This is the classic 2R exit.
- For volatile hydropower / microfinance names, widen both by ~1%.
- For NEPSE bluechips (NABIL, NHPC, NIC), tighter is fine (2% / 4%).
Decision support only. Not financial advice. Manual confirmation, sizing, and stop-loss required.
